Ontario shows, CFMA nominations & breakout west

How do... while currently in New York, I will be returning to the Great White North on Monday and playing a double bill with the awesomely awesome Jon Brooks at Hugh's Room in Toronto on Tuesday, October 1, and Oakville and London on Wednesday and Thursday. Check dates for deets.

Just found out I got three nominations for the 2013 Canadian Folk Music Awards. Yay me.

I'll be playing a set at Calgary Folk Fest's new home Festival Hall on October 4 at midnight. Come, I'll have my new electric with me...

Next up: Pembina River Nights Fest and the Edmonton Folk Festival

The John Wort Hannam Trio had a great time in Texas at the Kerrville Folk Fest (there is nothing like it anywhere else). We also had a great visit (albeit a short one) in the Orkney Islands, UK at the St. Magnus International Music Festival.

I have been volunteering at the relief efforts for flood-ravaged High River. There is a fundraiser July 10 in Calgary at River Park Church. Go here for details.

The fall will see the duo on Ontario and New York. Still filling in those dates. Check back at the calendar for deets.

April Tour and the Calgary Boys' Choir 40th anniversary

The John Wort Hannam Trio will be setting out to play some dates around Alberta and even a couple in Saskatchewan starting this Wednesday in Bassano. Scott Duncan on fiddle and Tyson Maiko on upright bass will be joining me for all the dates as well as Matt Paterschuk will be opening the show in The Hat, Lethbridge, and Calgary.

April 10—Bassano, AB
April 11—Swift Current, SK
April 12—Medicine Hat, AB
April 13—Strathmore, AB
April 14—Maple Creek, SK
April 16—TBA
April 17—Carstairs, AB
April 18—Red Deer, AB
April 19—Lethbridge, AB
April 20—Calgary, AB
April 21—High River, AB

In addition I'll be performing at the 'You've Got Male' 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Calgary Boys' Choir. I was a young chorister from the ages of 10-12, back shortly after the choir started. The experience impacted me greatly and likely set me up for doing the job I love—writing and performing music. Tickets are free but donations to the Choir are graciously accepted. Info is under the SHOWS link.

The Wee Folk Club, Toronto, and The Way We Feel—Gordon Lightfoot Celebration

Just finished three shows at High's Room with a killer lineup of artists performing Lightfoot songs. Gord himself showed up on the Sunday night. What a trip playing Your Loves Return and Early Morning Rain while staring at Gord in the crowd.

The fun continues at the end of this week with three more shows in Ottawa, Guelph, and Meaford. Details on the calendar. January 24th I'll be doing a double-bill with Alex Sinclair at The Wee Folk Club at The Dominion on Queens. It's a 7:30 start and $10.00.
